Multimedia Introduction to Venous Anatomy and Physiology
The programmed instruction begins with a full multi-media review of general venous anatomy and physiology,  and a discussion of the pathophysiology of reflux and its relationship to the development of venous disease.

Next, principles of conducting a thorough venous examination are reviewed including the use of hand held Doppler and venous ultrasound including optional hands on experiences.

Then, general principles of venous treatment are covered in detailed including a discussion of sclerosing agents, treatment options emphasizing various laser techniques (which will be demonstrated during the clinical portion of the course) and the management of complications.

During the clinical portion of the course, specialized attention will be given to the following topics:

  • Surface Sclerotherapy: Treatment of spider veins and reticular veins with conventional (surface) sclerotherapy. Foam technique will be thoroughly reviewed and discussed.
  • Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy: Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy treatment of varicose veins and incompetent tributary veins with ultrasound guided closure of incompetent SFJs
  • Laser: Endovenous Laser Therapy will be fully discussed and multiple live cases will be demonstrated using the latest equipment and modalities. Both Greater Saphenous and Small Saphenous will be reviewed.

Patient Evaluation Skills
Special attention will be devoted to initial patient evaluation, as each preceptor will be monitored and trained in a one-to-one evaluation of actual patients.
